Paula
L. Cartwright takes
a peep into her family's history and fictionalizes the story as
she remembers hearing the facts from her Aunt Mary K. The story
begins with her grandmother as a sixteen year-old bride leaving
a village near Naples, Italy, with her chaperon, the aunt of the
young bridegroom who sent for her. The story follows them to Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, where they begin life together. They rear seven
children between 1902 to 1941. The author paints a picture of
the times and brings to life the sights, sounds, and smells of
those years.
